Both housing affordability and availability are foundational to a healthy economy — it affects workforce stability, business growth, public finances, and the overall quality of life for residents. Housing is not just a social issue; it is a core component of the economic infrastructure.
In an effort to support development and increase access, KPEDD is currently working with regional partners and stakeholders to develop an up-to-date Housing Assessment. This report includes the stakeholder responses from the September roundtable discussions, background and demographic information, housing stock and affordability data, and municipal overviews based on planning and zoning requirements, challenges, and economic drivers. Efforts to build Section III are underway, and will include individual municipal plans, government programs such as AHFC strategies, local financial assets and available programs, developer support and emerging partnerships, technical assistance, case studies from similar economies, and stakeholder input.
